Course Overview
This two-day Excel Power BI course focuses on using Power Query (PQ) within Excel to transform and clean data, build data models, and create interactive reports and dashboards. Participants will gain practical experience connecting to various data sources, such as remote workbooks, text files, web data, and multiple sheets and workbooks. The course covers essential Power Query features like splitting columns, removing duplicates, filtering data, adding custom columns, and applying transformations to clean and structure data. Additionally, participants will learn how to create relationships between tables, append data, merge queries, and build base queries using the Group By feature.
The course also introduces participants to the concept of Fact vs. Dimension tables, primary vs. foreign keys, and data modeling techniques. A key component of the training is creating interactive dashboards using Power BI, including building Pivot Tables, applying slicers for filtering, and integrating Excel with Power BI for reporting. If time permits, participants will explore advanced features like image recognition technology to convert an image into a dataset. By the end of the course, attendees will have the skills to connect to, clean, and transform data, build relationships, and create meaningful, interactive reports and dashboards using Power Query and Power BI within Excel.
